The gîte Maison le Lièvre is the original home and the oldest part of a 200 years old renovated farmhouse.

The cottage consists of a living/sleeping room with a comfortable double bed (140 x 200 cm.) and a large, stone fireplace with a woodburning stove, where you can sit on a cool evening.

A spacious, fully equipped, dining kitchen with a refrigerator, 4 burner hob, an electric oven and a coffee machine.

You can order a French breakfast with us, for your first morning in France.

There is a bathroom with a shower cabin, with a high entrance, a toilet and sink.

The gîte is on one level.

You can park your car in your private driveway.

To the entrance of the cottage is a private terrace of gravel, with a terrace sitting area where you can dine in the evening.

You can use the lounge chairs when you relax to enjoy the sun.

Our gîte is located in the Perigord Vert, the green part of the Dordogne, and the regional national park Périgord-Limousin. This region is a beautiful hiking area and in many villages starts different marked hiking routes; in the cottage you will find plenty of routes and maps.

There are also excellent opportunities for activities such as canoeing, horse riding, golf, rock climbing, biking and swimming. A 20-minute drive away is the bathing lake of Saint-Estèphe, with a coastguard sandy beach, a good restaurant and a snackbar where you can order french fries. Here you can enjoy an old-fashioned experience of bathing.

The picturesque village of Saint Front sur Nizonne, with its beautiful church, is 4 km away.

On a 10 -minutes drive you will find Nontron, here you can buy your daily shopping in the supermarkets, and you can visit the weekly market on saturday. Nontron is known for its traditional knife-factory, dating back to the 15th century, the factory is worth a visit. Also in the centre is the beautiful castle that is the location for arts and craft exhibitions throughout the year organised by the Pôle Métiers d'art Expérimental de Périgord Vert-Limousin.

In Champeaux-et-la-Chapelle Pommier (5 km) is the beautiful l'eglise Saint Martin currently being restored; in the church are regular classical concerts raise funds for the restoration. Opposite the church you can start a marked hiking trail. The Chateau des Bernardières (6,5 km) you can visit during the high season, here you can a comprehensive free, guided tour provided by the experienced management couple.

In Villars (22 km) you can have a lovely dinner at 'le pas de Chat' and visit the prehistoric caves of Villars, or take a look at the Chateau de Puyghuilhem (16th century) that, in its renaissance appearance, resembles the castles in the Loire.

Brantôme (24 km) is called the Venice of the Périgord. The Abbey, the cave dwellings and the location of the centre on a island in the river Dronne are well worth a visit. In high season here are many restaurants and terraces where you can enjoy the cuisine of the Périgord. This region is known for its foie gras, canard, chestnuts, truffles and the delicious cheeses and wines.
